Torah Fund

Women Ensuring Conservative/Masorti Jewish Education

Torah Fund supports scholarships and programs in the worldwide Conservative/Masorti institutes of higher Jewish learning. The dedicated philanthropy of the Women’s League for Conservative Judaism, Torah Fund has raised nearly $106 million in its 79 years.

More than 35 years ago women changed the Conservative Movement to become rabbis and cantors in synagogues, and over the years, our donors have had an important role in the perpetuity of Conservative Judaism.

For the past several years, funds raised by Torah Fund have gone toward scholarships to all the schools. There are continuing opportunities for sisterhoods and individuals to provide support to all four institutions through Torah Fund. Thousands of dedicated volunteers have contributed to the spiritual, esthetic and material well being of these educational communities by supporting Torah Fund projects.

Creating New Spaces Campaign

Our special project, Creating New Spaces, will equally fund two important projects: A “Women’s League Study Space” in the new undergraduate Residence Hall at the Jewish Theological Seminary, and a special course of training for rabbinical students at the Ziegler School of Rabbinic Studies, entitled “Women’s League Institute on Gender Bias and Harassment.” Our goal is to raise $200,000 that will be split equally between the two projects.

THE TORAH FUND PIN 5783 (2022-2023)

Chazak v’Ematz

Be Strong and Courageous

This pin symbolizes the story of the Israelites preparing to enter the Promised Land, when the leadership transitions from Moses to Joshua. The Israelites and Joshua are instructed to “be strong and courageous” (Deuteronomy 31:6, 7, 23; Joshua 1:6, 7, 9, 18). The 5783 Torah Fund pin represents 80 years of ever-increasing strength of Torah Fund.
