A message from BQLI Region President Teri Fields
January 2 – 13 Tevet
Dear BQLI Sisterhood Affiliate,
Last night, the wind suddenly got so cold and powerful that it moved our recycling out of the tub twice. The second time the contents were so far gone I couldn’t even locate anything to put back into the bucket. The wind that was blowing through my neighborhood reminded me of a scene from Mary Poppins as the wind starts to gust, heralding change in the neighborhood. It seems like the secular year is trying to push and freeze out 2025. The snow we’ve gotten is good for the garden as it provides mulch and moisture during the winter, and will eventually allow for new growth. I think that this strong wind and snow is an opportunity for peace in 2026, to push out the antisemitism, violence and hate that we have seen way too much of this year. Take a moment to act and pray for that peace and think of all of the good we have to look forward to in the upcoming months.
Don’t forget to register for the upcoming BQLI Region health program Am I Still An Eshet Chayil If I Can’t Have Children: Infertility and Assisted Reproduction in Jewish Life on January 14, 2026 via Zoom by emailing dinabqliregistrar@gmail.com.

The yellow ribbons outside my synagogue parking lot fence will stay up as we continue to pray for news about the one remaining deceased hostage. Our love and support for the family of Master Sgt. Ran Gvili, who is not able to bury their loved one.
Oseh Shalom Bimromav, “May the One who makes peace in the heavens make peace for us and all the people of Israel”
Teri Fields
President
